the SE Brunswick Women's Association

Our next meeting will be held on October 7, 2026 at 10:00 am at the Cape Fear Jetport at 4015 Airport Rd SE. All women are welcome to attend. We are a group of interesting, committed, caring women who focus their time, energy and resources on local efforts that contribute to improving the life circumstances of women, children and the elderly in Brunswick County, NC.

Women's Expo on February 28th was a success!

SEBWA hosted their popular free Women's Expo afternoon on February 8, 2026 at 801 Ocean, Oak Island at 1:00 p.m. Admission and parking was free to hear informative speakers on topics that were of interest to many women.

SPEAKER INFORMATION

Margaret Goodman-Shelton: Margaret started Shelton Herb Farm in 1986 on her family’s Century Farm in Southeastern North Carolina. She and her husband Chuck raised their three sons on the farm. While employed at the University of North Carolina Wilmington as a Marine Science Technician, Margaret was growing herbs and vegetables in her home garden, supplying fresh food for her family.
With a passion for growing and the desire to be closer to her family, Shelton Herb Farm was realized. At first offering a few varieties of Herbs, the business has grown to offer over 800 varieties of Culinary & Medicinal Herbs, Vegetables, Fruit Trees & Bushes, Native plants, as well as Pollinator and Birder friendly varieties. Margaret has learned a lot over the years and enjoys sharing her experiences and vast knowledge. Kristen Williams: As a Chicagoland native, Kristen began her career in the beauty industry more than 20 years ago. She studied extensively in advanced programs at Mario Triccoci, Frank Gironda, and Zazú Salon. For the past 15 years she has faithfully served the Southport/Oak Island area as a hairstylist and colorist. Now, she brings her extensive knowledge of color theory and pigments to her permanent makeup practice, curating custom results for each client. In May, she will be completing her paramedical tattoo certification courses, bringing medical tattooing to our corner of Brunswick County. Carie Skerritt - Owner of Dream Vacations. Jenna Cooley, M.Ed., PCC is an International Coaching Federation Certified Professional Coach and graduate of the Institute for Professional Coaching (iPEC). She is also a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a master’s degree in Counselor Education. After a career serving in roles in business, government, education, nonprofits, and hospice, she founded Jenna Cooley Coaching in 2011. As a resident of Southport, North Carolina, Jenna coaches women navigating life and career changes and challenges locally and across the country, and facilitates leadership and team development programs for businesses and healthcare organizations.
Jenna and her husband, Steve, raised a "beautifully complex blended family" of four children in Virginia. As one who has learned to thrive through divorce, raising children that lost their biological parents, caring for and saying goodbye to her own parents, and supporting adult children with serious health challenges, Jenna is passionate about helping women find the “blessings wrapped in adversity” and teams reframe their challenges into opportunities. In her free time, Jenna enjoys sunset beach walks, binging dramatic tv series, reading good fiction, and visiting with her children and three grandchildren.

SEBWA Supports Project Angel Tree

Every year SEBWA supports Project Angel Tree which provides gifts to the children of incarcerated parents in Brunswick County. Members purchased specific gifts and gift cards for 30 children.

Thank you for visiting SEBWA Booth at the Wooden Boat Show on Nov. 1st

Our raffle of two pet baskets full of goodies for your 4-legged family member generated $500 which was donated to the Southport Oak Island Interchurch Fellowship (SOIICF) Food Pantry.

SEBWA's Trivia Night Fun!

Attendees had a fun night on September 26th at the Moose Lodge on Long Beach Road for Trivia. The event raised $2500 which was donated to Hope Harbor Home.

SEBWA Fills Welcome Bags for Little Pink Houses of Hope

For the third year, SEBWA Women have donated items to fill the Welcome Bags for families coming to Oak Island which is sponsored by Little Pink Houses of Hope for Breast Cancer patients.

SEBWA Donates to Oak Island Water Rescue

SEBWA Women would like to thank everyone who attended our recent Music Bingo Event. The proceeds from that event allowed us to donate $2000 to Oak Island Water Rescue.

SEBWA at Terra Bella

SEBWA Women collected gently used books to donate to the Terra Bella library in Southport for the residents use. One March 11, 2025 several members refreshed the library selections and the staff and residents were thrilled.
